Document Description
The project entails the engineering, procurement and installation of a new 332MVA 230/92kV transformer (Bank 5), A-frame dead-end and box steel structures, removal of wood poles and installation of steel poles, removal and relocation of a length of fence to allow line interconnection to the 230/92kV transformer, construction of a new 92kV transmission line bay, relocation of a 92kV transmission line (B-Line) terminus, conduit & grounding work, concrete foundations for transformer and bay, installation of assorted, breakers, fuses, switches and transformers, and system protection improvements (relays) at the El Centro Switching Station. To connect Bank 5 to the existing 92kV bus the existing bay 9 will have to be made available, hence a new bay (bay 23) will have to be constructed. This bay will be connected to the existing northeast and southeast 92kV buses. The existing B-Line (that spans from the ECSS to the Drop 4 Substation) terminus will be relocated to this new bay, the 92kV B-Line terminus relocation will require, for system protection purposes, the removal of panel U10 and the installation of new protection scheme on new duplex panel U27 (for the new 92kV bay 23) consisting of SEL411L, SEL311L, SEL751A, SEL2523, and auxiliary relays. Three (3) new line 92kV PT transformers will be added. The work at Drop 4 will include the installation of a new relay protection scheme that will include SEL411L, SEL311L, SEL751A, SEL2523 and auxiliary relays.
