Document Description
The California Fish and Game Commission proposes to amend current bag and possession limits for trout in Fall River Complex, and expand the geographic area to account for best available science. Best available science about the Fall River Complex, including Bear Creek, recently become available that indicates a unique spring system with a mix of rainbow trout life histories locally adapted to a spring-fed and snow melt system. Information suggests genetic differences among rainbow trout populations within the complex. The proposed regulation change will not allow a seasonal harvest, and will prohibit use of barbed hooks to protect and conserve the unique fishery in the complex.
