Document Description
Since the generation station's commissioning in 1973, the Coachella Gas Turbine Power Generating Station’s Units 3 and 4, have never undergone a major controls upgrade. The existing gas turbine control system devices are over 47 years old, obsolete and difficult to calibrate, or repair. The gas turbines’ reliability and availability do not meet the IID’s expectations and the OEM does not support the existing control systems. The project consists of replacing and upgrading the turbine control systems for Units 3 and 4 with a new microprocessor-based control system. The new control system shall be a fully programmable, open platform controller, with its own power supply, processor, communications system, and I/O for turbine control and protection. New features will enhance the reliability, availability, and maintainability of Units 3 and 4.
