Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15304, Minor Alterations to Land (Class 4)
Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to Guidelines Section 15304, Class 4, which consists of minor public or private alterations in the condition of land, water, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of mature, scenic trees except for forestry and agricultural purposes. The project would result in minor alterations in the condition of land, water, and/or vegetation associated with volunteer trash removal and site improvement activities, and implementation of minor infrastructure ancillary to backcountry camping activities, such as placement of signage on trails and at campsites and temporary trash disposal bins and port-a-potties at various locations where recreational activity already occurs. None of the project sites are known to contain sensitive resources that could be affected by project activities. The project does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees and would not result in significant adverse impacts or any exceptions to the exemption.
