Document Description
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) San Joaquin Field Division (SJFD) will shut down and dewater specific areas of the California Aqueduct coastal branch, in order to safely perform various maintenance activities (electrical, mechanical, corrosion protection, inspection, and cleaning). This yearly work is called the Coastal Outage. For the 2022 Coastal Outage, DEPP forebay, Vault 16.15, and POPP forebay will be dewatered. Water from DEPP will be discharged into a nearby sediment basin. Water from Vault 16.15 will be discharge into Berrenda Mesa Canal. Water from POPP will be discharged into an adjacent natural drainage. The 2022 Coastal Outage will begin in mid-October and last until the end of November. Dewatering activities will take approximately 7 days per site to complete. The project benefits the public and private sector, which depends on the California Aqueduct for water delivery.
