UC Davis proposes to grant an easement to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) related to Parking Structure 5 (PS5) on the UC Davis Sacramento Campus. The easement is located at the north edge of UC Davis Sacramento Campus along V Street, at 4620 V Street. The easement will allow SMUD to access the property to conduct utility improvements and maintain existing utilities to support the PS5 project.

Granting this easement for utility maintenance involves negligible or no expansion of current use of the site and qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, permitting, leasing, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of an existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
