Document Description
The project activities will involve removal of contaminated soils and debris that pose a threat to human health and the environment. The removal action will protect human health and the environment through excavation and disposal of contaminated soil exceeding recommended removal goals (RGs) for metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), dioxin/furans, and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)(diesel and heavy oil range). The excavation would address Remedial Action Objectives (RAOs) by removing and disposing of contaminated soils at existing licensed disposal facilities outside the boundaries of the Site. An estimated total of approximately 310 cubic yards of soil would be excavated and removed from the Site. Measures to control fugitive dust and implementation of stormwater pollution prevention would be performed during the soil removal. Excavated areas will be backfilled with clean soil to match prior surface conditions. Filled and regraded areas would be re-seeded and planted with native plant materials. Institutional Controls (ICs) may be needed and may include implementation of a soil management plan should future construction be planned in order to protect future construction workers with protocols and safety precautions for any intrusive activities involving possibly impacted soil.
