Document Description
On 11/17/2021 the sewer system at the Willits Maintenance Station failed resulting in backup of the sump, exposing untreated sewage water to the surface and forcing Maintenance staff to utilize portable toilets and hand washing stations. Attempts to repair were made by Caltrans Maintenance forces, but ultimately it was determined the system was unrepairable and full replacement was required. Due to the highly specialized and technical nature of this work, which Caltrans Maintenance staff are not trained to perform, assistance in replacing this sewer system and lift equipment is requested. The proposed solution includes replacing the existing, nonfunctional wastewater pumping system and transmission pipe and modifying the existing electrical system to accommodate the new system and allow for connection to backup generator power.
