Document Description
Golden State Water Company - Southwest proposes to upgrade its existing water system at 11230 Belhaven Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90059 to improve the water quality of Well 03 and Well 04 by increasing the dissolved oxygen and removing manganese. This will be accomplished by the addition of a 3,000-liter liquid-oxygen (LOX) storage tank, Blue and Green LOX injection system, a 2,150 gallon-per-minute manganese removal treatment system, and a 65,000-gallon backwash recovery tank. The backwash water is discharged into the tank and will not be discharged into a storm or sewer system. The by-product of the manganese removal is non-hazardous manganese sludge, which will be collected via pump truck and is disposed off-site at a disposal facility. The liquid oxygen and manganese removal treatment system will be placed within an existing building on the facility. The construction and placement of the LOX storage tank, manganese filters, and backwash recovery tank will be outside adjacent to the existing building. The entirety of the project will be constructed within an existing facility that resides in a highly developed urbanized and residential area.
