Document Description
Conduct geotechnical investigations in McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park to identify soil conditions under and around the existing lower Falls Trail to evaluate the nature/consistency of subsurface materials and to guide installation of retaining walls and rails to deter short-cutting to the Falls pool. Work will use hand augers to excavate up to three (3), 2-3 foot deep. Representative soil samples will be recorded for future analysis and excavations will be back filled with excavated materials. Excess materials from the excavations will be dispersed on-site.

Project consists of the operation or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; the minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not include the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees, and consists of basic data collection, research and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental
resource, and is included as "Resource management projects" and "Soils and structural engineering tests" in the Department of Parks and Recreation's list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR Section 15300.4.
