The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations Office of Internal Affairs, Allegation Inquiry Management Section, Central Region, is currently leasing approximately 5,496 square feet (sqft) of office space at the above-mentioned location. Due to additional staffing, additional office space is needed. Planning is currently underway to lease an additional 5,404 sqft for a total leased space of approximately 11,000 sqft at the Bakersfield location. The proposed tenant improvements for this location are minimal and will include the following: painting, carpet cleaning, and modification/reconfiguration of some work areas to maximize space.

The project is categorically exempt from CEQA under the “Class 1” (14 CCR §15301) exemption per the CEQA Guidelines because the project involves negligible to no expansion of use. The project site is located within a previously disturbed area that is not considered environmentally or historically sensitive. This is one of a class of projects that the Secretary for Resources has found do not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore is declared to be categorically exempt from the requirement for preparing an environmental document.
