Document Description
The purpose of this project is to address erosion affecting the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) listed Adamson House and NRHP listed archaeological site CA-LAN-264 site. In April 2019, a high tide event caused beach sand erosion displacing mortared flagstone steps and a changing room, a contributing element to the Adamson House NRHP property. The April 2019 high tide event also caused the collapse of an approximately 200 square foot section on the CA-LAN-264 site boundary. The project will construct a living shoreline through capping existing erosion scarp with cobble berms and anchoring pine tree/log creek diverters with large boulders to stabilize the sand bar near the mouth of Malibu Lagoon. Erosion control activities within this sand bar are necessary for minimizing further erosion in the short-term by stabilizing the nearshore area to lessen the rate of erosion.
