Document Description
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) proposes to place land into federal trust for the Pit River Tribe (Tribe). The land, known as the "40 Acre Property" site and currently owned in fee by the Tribe, consists of approximately 40.1 acres in Shasta County, California. This land is intended to be used for residential housing as a continuation of the adjacent Montgomery Creek Rancheria Housing Project, which would allow expansion of a housing base that is currently inadequate for Tribal needs. The proposed development of Tribal housing would cover approximately 29.42 acres and the remaining land on the parcel would be converted to residential roadways or left undisturbed.
