The purpose of the project is to improve public safety by establishing defensible space along the highway. The project is needed to maximize traffic flow for all modes of transportation during emergency operations and manage roadside vegetation. Additionally, the project would improve line of sight for animal crossings and allow solar radiation to reduce ice and snow accumulation.
