Document Description
The project is limited to the installation of a motorized boatlift onto an existing pier. The project will require driving a permanent, eight-inch by eight-inch (8”X8”) steel “H” piling into the lakebed immediately adjacent to the existing pier; and excavation of a temporary trench along a section of the lake back shore in order to place a power cable underground to provide electrical power to the pier for operation of the boatlift. The boatlift support piling shall be driven into the lakebed by means of a barge mounted pile driving apparatus.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 because the project is a minor alteration to an existing structure with the addition of a boat lift and delivery of electrical power to the pier. Class 3 because the project is a minor new construction with the addition of a small accessory structure (boatlift) to an existing pier. There is no increase in size of the footprint of the pier because of the project. Class 4 because the project consists of a minor alteration of land which does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
