Document Description
The project is limited to the following activities: 1) Repair of 21 pilings supporting the boathouse. The pilings will be repaired individually by hand by divers. The rotten portion for each piling will be removed while the flooring support beam is supported by an underwater jack. The rotted section will be removed and replaced by a custom fabricated piling capable of supporting all vertical and horizontal loading. This method of repair will result in no change in square foot coverage of the lakebed. All work will be conducted by hand and supported by via a floating barge. All supplies and equipment will be staged on the floating barge. 2) Thirty-one (31) twelve-inch (12”) diameter steel pipe pilings will be driven into the lake bottom at regular intervals along both sides of the existing concrete jetty/pier. This will result in impacts to approximately 24.25 square feet of lakebed. Steel cross-support girders will be welded and bolted to the new pilings to provide support for the existing pier decking. Caissons will be installed around each piling while it is being driven into the lakebed. All pile driving and restoration/repair work will be conducted from the water side by a floating barge or amphibious craft. All construction materials will also be staged from the water side of the project. 3) Placement of approximately five (5) cubic yards of clean washed mixture of gravel and cobble within the project area as an enhancement of the existing marginal native forage fish habitat.
