The project consists of the engineering, procurement and replacement of relay protection equipment for the IID Calexico substation banks 1 & 2 and IID Shadow Hills substation banks 1 & 2. Specifically, the project involves the replacement of ABB TPU 2000 relays, 2 per bank, with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) SEL-487E transformer protection relays. The installation of modern bank protection relays will help reduce damage to equipment due to faster reaction and trip times.
