Document Description
This project will develop perovskite PV and demonstrate new applications by integrating Swift Solar's perovskite technology into an electric vehicle (EV). During this project, Swift Solar will improve the efficiency and applications of their perovskite solar cell technology, develop prototype perovskite tandem modules, demonstrate solar charging in an EV using their perovskite tandem technology and evaluate the viability of prototype solar charging solutions for EVs.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, § 15301
Reasons for Exemption
Work under this project will include paper studies including modeling of vehicle-integrated PV output, laboratory research for perovskite solar cell research and development including materials and device processing and characterization, and testing methods and design of perovskite modules for vehicle integration. The laboratory research will occur at an existing, approximately 10,000 square-foot laboratory in an industrial area. New equipment installed will be less than 500 square feet. Only minor electrical work is expected internal to the recipient's lab facility to integrate new equipment. The prototype solar cells will be tested in approximately 1-2 existing vehicles. Testing will involve limited driving in recipient's parking lot and possibly local streets to measure solar output at different orientations. For these reasons, this project will have no impact on the environment and fits within section 15301.
