Document Description
The primary scope of work includes the reconstruction of Polk Street beginning 500 feet west of Monterey Avenue and terminating at Elm Avenue in Coalinga, CA. The work entails construction surveying, demolition of existing concrete improvements, asphalt grinding, roadway excavation and grading, placement of aggregate base and asphalt concrete pavement sections, construction of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, curb ramp, and valley gutter, adjustment of existing utility lids and sewer manholes, replacement of traffic loop detectors, application of type II slurry seal, and installation of traffic signage, pedestrian crossings, thermoplastic traffic striping. The street is a minor arterial that connects traffic to SR 198 and SR 33. The existing pavement is uneven, cracked, and failing, and existing cross slopes exceed five percent. This project will not only correct major roadway deficiencies, but also improve ADA compliance.
