Document Description
Department of Water Resources Delta Field Division staff will be repairing erosion sites along the California Aqueduct (CAAQ) at Mile Markers (MM) 37 to 38 along the Primary and Secondary sides. Staff will use an excavator to excavate erosion site to remove existing soil that has poor structure. Vegetation will be cleared with hand tools to expose top of erosion as needed. Clean fill will be hauled by dump truck to erosion site and placed in open excavation. A water truck will be used to wet soil to be compacted and for dust mitigation at erosion site. Culverts will be added as necessary to maintain engineered flows adjacent to CAAQ. Asphalt cold patches will be placed from pickup by hand as needed for locations with paved portions of roadway. Impacted V-ditches in immediate vicinity of erosion will be regraded for proper flow as necessary. BMP’s will be used at staging locations. Spill kits will be on site when heavy equipment is in use. Locations and descriptions are as follows: Secondary Side: MM 37.30a Size 20’x10’x1’. 7 cubic yards soil. MM 37.30b Size 20’x4’x2’. 6 cubic yards soil. MM 37.30c Size 3’x2’x6’. 1.3 cubic yards soil. MM 37.30d Size 30’x3’x2’. 7 cubic yards soil. Primary Side: MM 37 to 38 Various small erosion’s locations within defined work area causing improper runoff drainage causing erosion. Access to each location will be via existing DWR access roads Staging will be on existing roadways and parking lots, namely the Corral Hollow stockpile location for heavy equipment. A hauler lowboy combination will be used to transport heavy equipment to the site. All work will be within DWR right-of-way.
