Document Description
The proposed project will install a complete, code compliant, automatic fire sprinkler system for nine Residence Halls within the Secure Treatment Area at the Porterville Developmental Center. Includes connection of nine new 4" fire services from existing 6" water main on South Circle Drive. The residences are considered contributors to the National Register-eligible Porterville State Hospital Historic District; therefore, project drawings and specifications shall be compliant with Secretary of Interior Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Resources as determined by a qualified Preservation Architect, and all work shall follow historic treatment procedures as called for in Division 1 of the project manual.

Class 1 allows for the rehabilitation of deteriorated or damaged facilities to meet current standards of public health and safety, that involve negligible or no expansion of use. The project will be designed to comply with Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and will not significantly affect the integrity of the Porterville State Hospital Historic District, as determined by a qualified Preservation Architect. Therefore, no exceptions to this exemption apply.
