Document Description
DWR staff will perform hand auger and hand digging confirmation exploration holes along the downstream slope and toe of Clifton Court Forebay embankment. A maximum of 215 locations are proposed, avoiding known burrow locations. Each hole will be up to 36" deep using an approx. 3" diameter auger or standard spade shovel. Samples of the topsoil and embankment material will be taken for laboratory soil index testing, visual observation, and in-place density tested using a portable nuclear gauge. The holes will then be backfilled with the excavated material and compacted by hand tamping tools. Project footprint is within DWR right of way. Vehicles will stay on the gravel or paved access roads.
