Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to extend and widen an existing private pier in Lake Tahoe to create more functional use during low water years. The existing pier will be widened by 4 feet and elongated by 33.5 feet, with final dimensions of 10 feet wide by 73.5 feet long. 11 new pilings required for the extension will result in a total increase of 7 square feet (0.00016 acres) of permanent impact to Lake Tahoe. Piling locations occur in marginal fish habitat. Equipment required for pier removal and pile driving activities will be operated from an amphibious barge. Temporary water quality impacts in the project area may result from disturbance of lakebed sediment during amphibious barge movement and staging and pile driving. Permanent impacts will be mitigated through the removal of an existing mooring, resulting in the re-establishment of 10 square feet (0.00023 acres) of permanent lakebed impact.
