Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to make improvements on State Route (SR) 99 in the City of Sacramento in response to the Clean California State Beautification Program of 2021 authorized under Assembly Bill 149. The improvements would occur at 10 locations and four pedestrian overcrossings on SR 99 between post miles (PM) 17.2 and 24.2. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety for the travelling public, pedestrians, and Caltrans personnel as well as improve the aesthetics along SR 99 between PM 17.2 and 24.2. The existing slope paving underneath the structures was constructed with benches. At various locations through the SR 99 corridor, homeless encampments have been found under these locations. The homeless and/or the litter left behind could encroach upon the traveled way and endanger the travelling public or Caltrans personnel cleaning up these locations. In addition, some of the sound walls throughout the corridor have graffiti.
