The project consists of the construction of slurry cutoff walls in the existing Sacramento River west bank levee at sites 9 and 10 to address through seepage. Remediation work at sites 9 and 10 will consist of installing soil/bentonite cutoff walls by (1) degrading the existing top of the levee to create a level working surface of sufficient width to install the cutoff wall; (2) excavating a trench down through the crown of the levee; (3) mixing water and bentonite slurry material using an excavator in a frac tank/mixing box; (4) rebuilding the levee, including a clay cap over the cutoff wall; and (5) adding an aggregate base surface course on top of the levee to provide an all-weather road for levee maintenance.
