Document Description
NOE - The Plaza Del Mar Band Shell, constructed in 1919 by Windsor Soule in the Mission Revival Style, is a City Landmark. The proposed project is rehabilitation work consisting of structural repairs, repair of the roofing and associated waterproofing, and exterior envelope repairs. Project includes accessibility upgrades including a wheelchair ramp with access to the stage and a new paved accessible path between the ramp and lawn seating area, and electrical upgrades including new stage lighting and security lighting.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project satisfies the requirements described more fully in CEQA Guidelines §15301. The permitted use will not be intensified as a result of the project. Project is limited to rehabilitation, repairs, and bringing the existing band shell facility up to current ADA standards. No adverse environmental impacts are anticipated. None of the exceptions listed under CEQA Guidelines §15300.2 apply. The project would not result in a significant impact to a historical resource. The exterior alterations are being made primarily for, and will substantially advance, restoration of the Historic Resource to its original appearance; and the exterior alterations are consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. There would be no significant project-specific or cumulative impact on the environment as a result of the project, the project does not have the potential to damage scenic highways or historic resources, and the project site is not identified as a hazardous waste site.
