Document Description
Conduct prescribed broadcast burning in the Bennett Ridge area of Trione-Annadel State Park to restore the natural process of fire in the ecosystem and maintain a shaded fuel break. Work will occur within the spring or fall burn windows during appropriate weather conditions, in accordance with approved burn plans, and may include re-burning the unit over the next ten (10) years based on site monitoring and conditions. Work will use hand or power tools to construct maximum four-foot (4’) wide fire lines down to mineral soil, which will be used as control lines for the burn units, along with wetlines as appropriate, and existing fire roads and trails including the Ridge Trail. Dead trees and shrubs will be felled near control lines as well.
