Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes upgrading the Traffic Management System (TMS) equipment at various locations: in Calaveras County on SR-49 at Post Mile (PM) 8.33; and in Merced County on SR-99 from PM 26.92 to 27.55, on SR-152 at PM 13.35, and on SR-165 at PM 26.87; and in Tuolumne County on SR-120 at PMs 24.65 and 29.25. The scope of work includes replacement of cabinets and controllers using hand tools and possibly a truck-mounted crane. The existing foundation for the cabinets and/or controllers may also be replaced. All work will occur within Caltrans existing Right of Way. The purpose of this project is to improve real-time communication regarding existing traffic conditions to both Caltrans and the traveling public. The project is needed to ensure safe operation of the State Highway System.
