Document Description
Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), under the Operations Training & Safety Department, proposes to conduct an S-212 Wildland Chainsaws training at Talbert Park, in Costa Mesa, within Orange County, CA. The Proposed Project would occur within Talbert Park South, which is owned and managed by Orange County Parks, and would consist of the removal of non-native and invasive trees to enhance natural communities within the Park, while assisting with training for OCFA. Trees are an important component of natural ecosystems in California and removal of non-native and invasive trees will enhance native ecosystems, while promoting restoration and removal of hazardous fuel loading. The removal of non-native and invasive species will increase native habitats and ultimately increase native biodiversity, while reducing the wildfire risks to habitable structures by reducing potential fuel within parks and adjacent to roads, homes, and HOAs.
