Document Description
South Tahoe PUD's Paloma Well has a compromised down-well screen and will require remediation. Screen replacement and testing for flow rate with a discharge of groundwater to the Upper Truckee River marsh/Trout Creek are required before returning well to service. The well has been a reliable source of domestic drinking water for the Al Tahoe neighborhood and routinely meets primary and secondary levels for constituents as required by Title 22.

Reasons for Exemption
Remediation of the well will not incur any adverse impacts to the site or surface waters. Replacement of the screen will return the well to service in the same location and in the same manner as operation before screen failure. First discharge of pumped groundwater will be discharged into the sanitary sewer system. During steady state and variable rate testing, drawn groundwater will be discharged to Trout Creek with various BMP implementations. Discharge of groundwater is not anticipated to result in any adverse impacts to beneficial uses of Trout Creek. Discharge Requirements are exempt, Statewide General Order NPDES WQ 2014-0194-DWQ has an associated mitigated negative declaration (Resolution 2014-0067) for these types of discharges.
