Document Description
The City of Redding, in cooperation with Caltrans, will construct a safety and operational improvement project on 1-5 at the South Bonnyview Road off-ramps, from postmile (PM) Rl 1.7 to PM R12.6, in Redding, California. The purpose of the project is to improve safety and traffic operations. The project includes vegetation removal; earthwork; drainage modification; off-ramp widening and lengthening; retaining wall construction; as well as signal, lighting, crosswalk, and curb-ramp improvements. Work will also include paving, striping, sign installation, and vegetation planting.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 2 exemptions include the replacement or reconstruction of existing utility systems and/or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity. The off-ramps will be widened and lengthened to improve safety and traffic operations; however, the project will not create additional vehicle capacity on 1-5. The project has been reviewed for sensitive resources such as threatened or endangered species or their habitats, sensitive vegetation communities, tribal lands, or tribal cultural resources. The project has no potential to have a significant effect on the environment.
