Document Description
Notice of Exemption (NOE) for geotechnical investigations. Southern California Edison will carry out geotechnical field investigation for tower sites AX16, AX20 and AX21/D1 of the 230-kV Riverside Transmission Reliability Project (RTRP). The purpose of the geotechnical investigation is to provide design parameters for the foundation design and recommendations for civil design (including site grading and access roads) for the RTRP segment on the Property. The planned field work will last about three to five days. The proposed field activities include three exploratory hollow stem auger borings at six to eight inches in diameter and approximately 50 feet below ground surface. The proposed field activities include up to eight test pit locations. The test pits are proposed in locations for cut or fill slopes planned for access roads and maintenance pads. Each test pit will be advanced to depths of 5 to 10 feet below ground surface. The holes will be backfilled with native soil or bentonite mud as needed. No wells or permanent features will be installed. The beneficiaries of the investigation would be Southern California Edison and Riverside Public Utility by providing pre-construction data collection for the three structures and their access roads and maintenance pads.
