Document Description
The project consists of pavement marking removal and the application of roadway preventative maintenance surface treatments, including polymer modified chip seal, microsurfacing, and/or slurry seal. Maintenance treatments will be applied to the existing road width. No widening of the road or work on the non-paved sections of the roadway are anticipated. Following the surface treatment, roads will be striped with waterborne retroreflective pain. The project is to maintain existing roads.

After reviewing the project and its setting, the Environmental Coordinator for the County of Tuolumne has determined that the surface treatment of existing roads is categorically exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines. The project includes the repair and maintenance of existing roadways and involves no expansion of the existing use. None of the exceptions to the categorical exemptions provided in Section 15300.2 of the State CEQA Guidelines apply to the proposed project.
