Document Description
The objective of this project is to manage vegetation along an existing fire road to reduce the density and ladder fuel components of the vegetation. Sonoma Land Trust plans approximately 6 acres of vegetation clearing utilizing a CAL FIRE Fire Prevention Grant at the Glen Oaks Ranch located approximately seven miles north of the community of Sonoma CA. Glen Oaks Ranch is a 234-acre property managed for conservation by the Sonoma Land Trust. The proposed treatment area spans approximately 0.50 mile with 150-foot total clearance along an existing ranch fire road along an existing ranch fire road. The treatment methods will include ladder fuel vegetation removal and slash treatment utilizing hand cutting, limbing and lop/scatter of cut vegetation. No mastication or prescribed burning is proposed for the project. Watercourses will be provided a buffer and no operations will occur within the buffer. No healthy, mature scenic trees are to be removed. Operations are designed to reduce the vegetation density and ladder fuel components of competing vegetation while retaining an overstory of hardwood.
