Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), proposes an emergency Director’s Order project to address damages caused to the avalanche control system by the Caldor Fire along State Route (SR) 88 between post miles R69.0 and 70.0 in Amador County. On 08/17/2021 a Governor’s Proclamation of State of Emergency was signed and on 09/12/2021 a Presidential Disaster Declaration was approved for the Caldor Fire. The scope of work includes replacing in-kind the damaged oxygen and propane supply lines that run from the existing fuel shelters to the existing avalanche exploder sites. The purpose of the project is to immediately restore the functionality of the avalanche control system prior to the upcoming winter season. The project is needed to help control avalanche activity and prevent the loss or impairment of life, property, or essential public services along this section of SR-88.
