Document Description
The CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit was recently given more staff to address increased fire protection. Staff consists of 20 fire fighters and 4 fire captains. Currently, the new personnel are staying at a hotel (Homewood Suites) at the San Jose Airport. This creates logistical issues as they are on call and they have no ability to have a common kitchen for meal preparation.
CAL FIRE will be entering into a lease for a home that is 2,800 sf with 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms located at 320 North 7th Street in San Jose. This lease will be in place until a permanent solution can be determined. The number of staff residing at the home will be 10 per shift. No improvements are required as the home has recently been renovated.
