Document Description
The EDI Explorers program brings students and their parents from Southeast San Diego County to the San Diego Bay National Wildlife refuge to explore the coast. Students hike, use binoculars to observe birds, touch and smell native plants, handle animal skull models to understand animal adaptations to habitats and view water samples for microorganisms. Students and their families are invited on a weekend field trip for a kayaking tour of the San Diego Bay, while birdwatching and enjoying time together. Lastly, students embrace the power of stewardship and community building by planting native species, removing invasive species, and creating interpretive signage in support of habitat management.
