Document Description
UC Davis Sacramento Campus proposes to construct the Modular Sports Court, which consists of a small concrete pad with a shade canopy for an outdoor fitness court and gym. The Modular Fitness Court will be located at the Sacramento Campus adjacent to Research Building 2 in the Education Core. The land use in this area is designated as Open Space and allows for the development of shaded areas, plazas and courtyards.

Reasons for Exemption
The development of small structures qualifies as a Class 3 Categorical Exemption within the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the construction of new, small structures or facilities, installation of small new equipment in small structures, and accessory structures such as carports and patios. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
