LADWP seeks to provide a reliable source of water to its customers and is in the midst of a program to replace aging and leaking infrastructure, including the 55th Street 24” Replacement (proposed Project). This project is in response to the 2018 55th St leak which was a catastrophic leak that caused some citizens to evacuate, a boil water notice, and some and property damage. Two new pipes will be installed from Western Ave to Compton Ave. One pipe is a 24" steel pipe that will be replacing 19,500 linear feet of the current 55th St trunk line and the other is a 6-inch ductile iron running along the trunk line that the residents will be tapping off of. Project is expected to take from 2022 to 2027.
