Document Description
Install an informational bulletin board kiosk and two (2) ADA benches at the Oso Flaco Lake causeway in order to accommodate individuals with physical restrictions and provide park visitors with critical information. For the information kiosk: • Use an auger to excavate two (2) 12 in. dia. x 24 in. deep holes and install posts to an ADA compliant informational kiosk with an overall footprint of 72” wide x 169.5” long to account for the panel and ADA side approach; and • Backfill around posts with concrete to secure kiosk. For the benches (at each location): • Excavate a 138” x 98.25” area up to 4” deep and prepare the ground with a permeable road base surface with a maximum 2% to 5% slope; • Excavate up to 12” to install an earth anchor; and • Install the bench and secure with a steel cable attached to the earth anchor. Each site footprint will be over excavated approx. 6” to allow for road base to be ADA compliant with regards to slope. ln the process of installing each footprint, there will be minimal plant removal. Standard project provisions will include archeological and biological monitors during the project.

Project consists of the maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures and facilities involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures, included as “Modifications of existing facilities for disabled access” and “Construction of park facilities, such as kiosks” in the Department of Parks and Recreations’ list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4; and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees. There are no exceptions to the exemptions that apply.
