The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number EPIMS-SBR-14008-R6, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the San Bernardino International Airport Authority as represented by James Harris. The project is limited to repairing existing damaged structures in the City Creek Bypass Channel in-kind. This includes removing and replacing side panels throughout the channel and repairing 17 existing energy dissipating structures. The project also includes removing accumulated sediment, vegetation, and debris that has resulted from previous flood events. It is estimated 8,000 cubic yards (CY) of sediment will be removed from the channel within the first year and approximately 4,000 CY during subsequent years (years 2-4). Annual sediment removal will occur in one of two seasons each year: January 1- March 15 or September 15 - November 30. Temporary fill (clean dirt) will be used to create a temporary ramp for equipment to access the channel. All temporary fill will be removed as soon as the in-channel work is completed. Existing channel dimensions will remain as designed and all repair work will be completed to current standards to maintain channel function and use.
