Document Description
The project consists of repairing the existing Union Mine culvert, a 12-foot concrete box culvert that allows an unnamed seasonal creek to flow underneath Union Mine Road. Previous repairs to the culvert have included the installation of a 12-foot long, 4-foot-wide metal pipe, which is now deteriorating and impacting the flow of the creek. The project will build on the foundations of the original concrete box culvert by reinforcing the concrete box and adding an 8-foot extension. This will require: (1) localized rock and boulder excavation to allow for the box culvert extension, including new wing walls; (2) concrete flooring to be poured into the existing culvert and extension; (3) new footings to be poured for the extension wing walls; (4) extension walls, abutment wing walls, and lid to be formed and poured; (5) drains in extension wing walls to be installed; and (6) backfilling the project area to grade with 50 cubic yards of fill.
