Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has issued this Restoration Management Permit (RMP) pursuant to section 2081(a) of the Fish and Game Code to the California Department of Parks and Recreation for the Pacheco State Park Pig Pond and Bear Hide Lake Dam Failure Project (Project). The Project is expected to benefit California Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma californiense pop. 1), referred to as the Covered Species, by preserving suitable aquatic habitat and eliminating risk of habitat fragmentation. The Project is estimated to take 30 individuals of the Covered Species in the form of catch, capture and relocation; the Project may also result in take of three juvenile or adult individuals of the Covered Species in the form of incidental mortality of the Covered Species during implementation of the Project. Permittee is authorized to relocate the Covered Species out of harm’s way. CDFW has determined and expects that the Project will benefit, aid in the conservation of, and assist in the recovery of the Covered Species.

The Project will occur at two stock pond dams located within Pacheco State Park, west of San Luis Reservoir, in the County of Merced; Pig Pond is located at 37.04947, -121.21212 and Bear Hide Lake is located at 37.02844, -121.20250; Section 00, Township 10 South, Range 7 East; U.S. Geological Survey map Pacheco Pass; Assessor’s Parcel Numbers 078-030-010 and 078-050-012. The Project areas (Project Areas) are depicted in Exhibit 1, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference.
