Document Description
The project includes constructing solar carport system on existing parking lots (Parking Lots A, C and D) on campus. A battery energy storage system (BESS) would also be constructed on a disturbed, paved area, with an underground electrical conduit connecting the BESS to the solar array system. This underground electrical conduit would be contained within the existing right-of-way. See figure, Moreno Valley Campus-Soler Plan, attached.

The proposed parking lots A, C and D solar carport, BESS, and underground electrical conduit are exempt under CEQA Statute 21080.35. The parking lot solar arrays would be added to existing parking lots, and the associated equipment would be connected via an existing right-of-way. The BESS would also be located in a previously disturbed, paved area no greater than 500 square feet in area and not impacting any plants protected by the Native Plant Protection Act or requiring the removal of any native trees over 25 years old.
