A battery energy storage system (BESS) would also be constructed In a disturbed, paved area, with an underground electrical conduit connecting the BESS to the solar panel systems. The proposed solar roof-mounted canopy system on existing parking structure and roof-mounted solar panel at Coil School of the Arts building, BESS, and underground electrical conduit ere exempt under CEQA Statue 21080.35. The solar panels would be added to the roofs of two existing buildings. The BESS and the associated conduit would be located in disturbed, paved areas no greater than 500 square feet In area and not Impacting any plants protected by the Native Plant Protection Act or requiring the removal of any native trees over 25 years old.
