Document Description
Stanislaus County is proposing to provide and improve pedestrian and bicycle transportation facilities in the Bret Harte neighborhood located south of downtown Modesto. These improvements include Class III bicycle routes on Las Vegas Street, north of Glenn Avenue; Butte Street east of Crows Landing Road to Las Vegas Street; and Glenn Avenue, from Crows Landing Road to Gutherie Street. The project also proposes to add sidewalk facilities along the east side of Las Vegas Street, north of Glenn Avenue; both sides of Butte Avenue, west of Crow's Landing Road; and both sides of Glenn Avenue, between Crows Landing Road Road and Dallas Street. The project will also include five high-visibility pedestrian crossings located near Bret Harte Elementary School. The project includes an interactive bicycle safety, education and awareness campaign to support the use of the project by providing safety education and increase awareness about safe crossing in the neighborhood.

The project includes the creation of bicycle lanes on existing rights-of-way, as classified under Section 15304, Class 4 (h).
