Document Description
CDCR proposes to design and install air cooling units at SATF-CSP Facility F and G. This project involves installation of air cooling systems with required fire, life, safety improvements in rehabilitative treatment, education, and office space. The work is necessary to ensure indoor temperatures are suitable for patient and inmate that have a high risk of heat related illness. High temperatures lead to missed treatment and education programing for patient and inmate through refusal to attend these rehabilitative treatment programs. All work shall be in compliance with CDCR Design and Construction Policy Guidelines, Building Codes, ADA, and State Fire Marshal (SFM) requirements.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
15301Class 1
Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt from CEQA under the “Class 1” (14 CCR §15301) exemption per the CEQA Guidelines because the project involves negligible to no expansion of use. The project site is not in an environmentally sensitive area and none of the exceptions to this exemption are applicable. This is one of a class of projects that the Secretary for Resources has found do not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore is declared to be categorically exempt from the requirement for preparing an environmental document.
