Document Description
The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) proposes the replacement of existing solar panels at the CHC Solar Farm (Project). The Project involves removal of existing solar panels at Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (seven acres total) and provision of new ground mount panels in Areas 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 (six acres total). The Project also includes a new battery energy storage system (BESS). The Project would be located in the same area as the existing solar field and only minor earthwork would be needed to install the new solar panels and BESS.

State CEQA Guidelines §15032 (Replacement or Reconstruction) allows for projects consisting of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. The Project would be located in the same area as the existing solar field and that only minor earthwork would be needed to install the new solar panels and BESS. The Project would serve the same purpose as the existing facility. No adverse environmental impacts would occur as a result of the Project.
