Document Description
LADWP plans to replace the existing production Well W371 in Bishop, California. Well W371, drilled in 1980, has lost its pumping capacity over the years and repeated rehabilitation has not been effective. The use of the replacement well (W371R) will be consistent with the use of the existing well: to supply water for irrigation to City-owned lands on Bishop Cone. The replacement has been approved by the Inyo/LA Technical Group and the Inyo County Environmental Health Department has issued a permit for construction. Current industry standards for well drilling will be utilized and no site preparation or grading is needed. Drilling fluid will be confined in settling tanks. Once the replacement well is installed, the existing well will be abandoned or converted to a monitoring well.
