Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-MEN-31736-R1C), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, the project Applicant is the California Department of Transportation. The purpose of the project is to replace the Elk Creek Bridge. The existing 122-foot long, 3-span bridge (Bridge No. 10-0120) and approach roadway will be replaced with a new, 140-foot-long, full-span, cast-in-place bridge structure. Work includes construction of a temporary, one-lane, 22.5-foot-wide, 140-foot-long bridge and temporary roadway approaches east of the current bridge alignment, demolition of the existing bridge, and construction of a wider full span structure, with widened bridge approaches to accommodate transitions from the bridge to the existing roadway, and upgrades to bridge rails and approach guardrails. Project activities also include vegetation removal, construction of temporary access roads, installation of a temporary clear water diversion and dewatering of the construction site, pile driving, removal of existing rock slope protection, drainage modifications, erosion control, and onsite revegetation. The project includes on-site restoration activities to improve habitat conditions and to mitigate for take of listed species. A separate off-site mitigation project is proposed at Saunder’s Landing.
